The sadhus of Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shri Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara took the 'Amrit Snan' on Tuesday on the Makar Sankranti Day. The Maha Kumbh Mela administration has issued an order on Monday regarding the date, order, and time for 'Amrit Snan' of 13 Akharas.

Sharing their happiness about the event, Baba Pramod Giri of the Shambu Panchayati Atal Akhara said that it was a matter of happiness that Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara and Mahanirvani Panchayati Akhada are going together for the Snan."It’s a matter of happiness for us that Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara and Mahanirvani Panchayati Akhada are going together to have Shahi (Amrit) Snan. It has been a tradition that Naga Sadhus stick to," he told ANI. Both were given 40 minutes for bathing.

They departed from the ghat for the camp at 6.55 am and reached there by 7.55 am.

As per the schedule, Shri Taponidhi Panchayati Shri Niranjani Akhara and Shri Panchayati Akhara Anand will be the second ones to take the holy dip at Triveni Sangam - a sacred confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and 'mystical' Saraswati. The remaining nine Akharas will follow them as per the schedule ending at 5:30 pm.

Authorities expect a record number of devotees to take part in the 'Amrit Snan' on Tuesday as the occasion is considered special. Ashutosh Varshney, the convener of Prayagraj-based Ram Naam Bank (an NGO), told PTI that it was "a divine coincidence that two 'snans' in the Maha Kumbh are on consecutive days."

"So, a large number of devotees, seers and commoners from different walks of life have already descended on the holy city of Prayagraj," he said.

The police have ramped up security ahead of the procession. SSP Kumbh Mela Rajesh Dwivedi said a heavy posse of police personnel has been deployed. "The police personnel are deployed on the Akhara route here leading to the 'snan' area. Police, PAC, horse-mounted police and Paramilitary force are accompanying the Akharas," Dwivedi added.
