The surgery to treat the stab wounds of actor Saif Ali Khan was successful and he is out of danger, the actor’s family said in a statement on Thursday. The actor suffered stab injuries while trying to stop an alleged burglary attempt at his residence and is undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.

“Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress,” the actor’s family said in a statement. “All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident,” it added. The family thanked the medical team at the hospital and fans and well-wishers for their prayers.
Doctors treating the actor said Saif has been moved to the ICU for observation. Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of the Lilavati hospital said a broken part of the knife was found near his spine, it was removed and submitted to the police. Dr Uttamani said Khan will be under observation for a day.

An intruder who barged into the actor’s house during the early hours of Thursday allegedly stabbed Saif multiple times while he tried to stop the burglar. The incident occurred around 2.30am at the actor’s house in Bandra. The intruder fled from the spot.

The actor’s children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim visited him at the hospital. A few other Bollywood celebrities also visited the hospital.
According to a statement issued by hospital authorities, Saif Ali Khan suffered six stab wounds and two are deep; one of these was close to the spine. The actor also suffered a deep wound in his left hand and a plastic surgeon is also part of the surgery, hospital authorities said.
Saif’s wife and actor, Kareena Kapoor Khan stated earlier that there was a burglary attempt at their residence and Saif is undergoing treatment at the hospital. She requested the media and fans not to speculate about the incident.
