Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday requested the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) to include his name on the organ donors’ register.

Speaking at an event organised by the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan, Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with the SS Jain Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir, to promote organ donation, Sinha expressed his commitment to the cause. "I have requested SOTTO to add my name to the list of organ donors,"he said. "Organ donation should be embraced as a guiding principle in life."

He said this selfless act not only transforms the lives of recipients but also has a profound impact on their families and loved ones. Sinha also  extended his gratitude to those who have voluntarily pledged their organs and called on others to support this noble cause.

"For donors, organ donation is an opportunity to give the gift of life,"he said. He said everyone should contribute to society by actively participating in organ and tissue donation.

Praising the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan for its efforts in inspiring individuals to pledge their organs, Sinha reaffirmed the government's dedication to supporting social organisations and volunteers working towards this cause.

He stressed the need for permanent help desks in hospitals to provide accurate information about organ donation and address misconceptions.

He said it is crucial to dispel myths surrounding organ donation. "Hospitals, in collaboration with various stakeholders, should organise awareness camps to educate and encourage the public," he said.
