Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled a Bangla book which is a collection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s selective speeches from 2013 to 2023 that have been translated from Hindi, in the presence of several senior Bengal BJP leaders at the National Library in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Titled 'Collection of Selected Speeches of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi', the 368-page book has been compiled by West Bengal state BJP vice president Rathindra Bose. The speeches in the book deal with a wide range of issues, including science and technology, foreign affairs, and national interest among others.
Bose said, “This book will take Narendra Modi’s speeches to the booth level and mandal level workers of BJP who don’t understand Hindi properly.”
Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey, who was among the special guests at the event, pointed out that PM Modi’s speeches in the book would reflect India’s development over the last decade, emphasising the 'Vocal for Local' initiative and India’s journey to becoming the fifth-largest global economy, with aspirations to soon rank third.
Meanwhile, CM Saha talked about PM Modi’s ‘Act East’ policy and credited it for the development of Tripura. Taking pride in being introduced as a “Bengali chief minister” during the book launch event, he hoped for a change in West Bengal soon and its betterment of ties with Tripura.
“It feels good when people call me ‘our Bengali chief minister’ in West Bengal,” the Tripura chief minister said. “Even though I am out of Tripura, West Bengal doesn’t feel like a different state. West Bengal is like my own state because I am also a Bengali.”
“However, in the last few years, there has been a division since the two states are ruled by two different parties. The relationship has suffered to some extent. We must restore our ties because we have families living in both states,” CM Saha added.
Apart from Saha, who was the chief guest of the event organised by think tank Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation (SPMRF) Padmasree winners Purnadas Baul and Pritikana Goswami attended the event as special guests. Among the political leaders, former Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh and former Meghalaya governor Tathagata Roy were in the attendance along with SPMRF chairman and trustee member Dr. Anirban Ganguly.
