Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged BJP workers in Delhi to ensure that the party gets 50 per cent votes in every booth in the upcoming assembly elections.

Modi, in an online interaction with party workers, said the Aam Aadmi Party was losing ground across the national capital due to its “unfulfilled promises” and “corruption”.

“People are openly expressing anger with the AAP government during the party's campaign. The AAP is making new announcements every day as it is aware that it is losing ground across the national capital,” said the prime minister.

Modi called on the partymen to reach out to the public after gathering photographic and video evidence of the city's poor roads, sanitation and other problems.

The BJP will pave the way for fulfilling the resolve of making Delhi the developed capital of a developed India, he said.

Elections to the 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on February 5 and the votes will be counted on February 8.

“People are aware of the AAP's misdeeds and the BJP workers should continue to highlight the destruction the AAP has inflicted on Delhi,” Modi said, adding that the national capital lacks an identity of its own unlike several other cities such as Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Noida and Chandigarh.

Raking up the issue of Purvanchali voters, Modi accused the AAP of conspiring to push the people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh out of the national capital.

He also took a swipe at the Kejriwal’s party over the excise policy scam and said in Delhi "liquor is available but water is not".

The BJP, which managed to secure only eight seats in the last assembly elections, hopes for a strong comeback this time, while the AAP aims at a third straight term.
