Amit Shah has made the Delhi Police the personal army of the BJP, says the former chief minister.

Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal alleged on Thursday that his car was attacked in Delhi’s Hari Nagar by supporters of the party’s rival candidates.

The former chief minister also accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of being behind the attack.

“Today in Hari Nagar, the police allowed the opposition candidate's men to enter my public meeting and then attacked my car,” he wrote on X.

“All this is happening on the orders of Amit Shah. Amit Shah has made the Delhi Police the personal army of the BJP,” he further said.

Kejriwal also targeted the Election Commission for not taking action against such attacks on the AAP leaders.

“Questions are being raised on the Election Commission that the national president of a national party and its leaders are being constantly attacked and the Election Commission is unable to take any effective action,” he further said in his post.

Last week, the AAP alleged that Kejriwal’s car was attacked with stones by the supporters of BJP’s Parvesh Verma—his opponent at the New Delhi constituency.

"The goons of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma targeted Arvind Kejriwal with stones so that he could not campaign. Listen BJP, Arvind Kejriwal is not going to back down because of your cowardly attack on him. The people of Delhi will give you a befitting reply," the party had said.

Elections to the 70-member Delhi assembly will take place on February 5 and the votes will be counted on February 8. While the AAP aims for a third straight term in the capital state, the BJP hopes for a strong comeback.

In the last assembly elections, Kejriwal’s party bagged 62 of the 70 seats while the BJP managed to win only eight. The Congress, the third player, drew a blank.
