Clad in an iconic red sari, the embodiment of the Indian woman stood tall on the tableau by the Ministry of Women and Child Development at the Republic Day parade in Delhi.
In “shakti swaroop”, as the ministry termed the installation, the depiction featured five pairs of hands—each brandishing one tool that depicted the various roles women play in day to day lives.
A depiction of a mother lovingly cradling her girl child headlined the entire display at Kartavya Path, as the towering avatar made for an impactful backdrop. The centre of the display symbolized the role of the mother as the first teacher of a child, the ministry stated.
In a bid to highlight “empowerment, women-led development, and the role of women in Viksit Bharat 2047”, the Ministry of Women and Child Development said that the tableau depicted the “multifaceted journey of women and children nurtured under the ministry’s comprehensive schemes” such as One Stop Centre, Women Helpline (181), Child Helpline (1098), and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
The impactful tableau also marked ten years of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao movement and 50 years of the Anganwadi Scheme, said the ministry.

Speaking of the “shakti swaroop” imagery, the ministry stated that it depicted women as “empowered in all aspects, powerful, and independent to undertake any profession or occupation in any field, be it science and technology, medicine, administration, artificial intelligence, or space.”
“This image underscored the strength, resilience, and multitasking prowess of today’s empowered Indian woman,” the government body said in a statement.
