A Delhi court on Tuesday quashed the summons issued to Chief Minister Atishi in a defamation case filed by a BJP leader.
The Rouse Avenue court passed the order on an appeal filed by the AAP leader against an order of a magisterial court, which issued summons to her on a complaint of BJP’s Praveen Shankar Kapoor.
Special judge Vishal Gogne observed that the Atishi’s comment had been made against the opposition BJP as a whole and not any individual members.

In April last year, Atishi—then a minister in the former Arvind Kejriwal government—claimed that she and a few other AAP leaders had been approached by individuals linked to the BJP who demanded that she join the BJP or face arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.
Kapoor in his complaint alleged that Atishi’s claims were false and that she had not furnished any material to substantiate their allegations.
The court ruling comes as a major relief for Atishi and the AAP ahead of the Delhi assembly elections scheduled for February 5. Atishi is standing for re-election from her Kalkaji seat.
The AAP hopes for a third straight term in the national capital, while the BJP aims at a strong comeback. In the last assembly polls, the AAP swept the capital state, winning 62 of the 70 seats while the BJP managed to bag only eight. The Congress, the third player, drew a blank.
