After AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the Haryana government poisoned Yamuna to disrupt Delhi's water supply, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit back, saying he is too drinking Yamuna water.
Speaking at a rally in Delhi ahead of the Delhi assembly polls, Modi said the national capital does not want "aapda" (Hindi for disaster). The PM said he too drinks the same water from the Yamuna River and asked whether Haryana BJP will try to kill him.
The PM said it is not just an insult to Haryana but to all Indians, adding that BJP will form a government in Delhi once the results are declared on February 8. Modi urged Delhi voters a chance to Modi to work for them so that the traffic snarls, poor infrastructure, water and air pollution issues can be resolved.
Earlier, Kejriwal took to X, alleging that those linked to Haryana BJP unit are mixising poison with the Yamuna water sent to Delhi. Calling the alleged act digusting, Kejriwal warned that many people will die if they drink it. "For the safety of the people of Delhi, the water supply has to be stopped in many areas," he said, adding that that water cannot be cleaned even in water treatment plants.
Kejriwal went on to allege that the BJP wants to commit mass murder.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has dismissed the former Delhi CM's "blatantly false" remarks, asking him to apologise to the people of Haryana and Delhi. He also threatened the AAP chief with a defamation suit.
Meanwhile, the Congress has reached out to the Election Commission to take action against Kejriwal if his allegations are false as well as against the BJP if the claims are true.
However, the Election Commission has asked the former Delhi CM to substantiate his allgations, giving him time till 8 pm.
