Addressing reporters ahead of the session, Modi said, “You must have noticed, since 2014, this is the first Parliament session, which saw no 'videshi chingari' (foreign interference) in our affairs...in which no foreign forces tried to ignite a fire; I had noticed this before every budget session,” ANI reported. Accusing the opposition of disrupting sessions of the Parliament, Modi said there are “many in our country who leave no stone unturned to fan these sparks”.
Modi invoked Goddess Lakshmi ahead of the session and sought her blessings for the poor and the middle-class in the country. “I can say this with full faith that in 2047, when India will be celebrating 100 years of Independence, this budget will provide new trust and new energy that the country will definitely become 'Viksit' when it will celebrate 100 years of Independence,” Modi said.
