Pune police have arrested Gaurav Ahuja, the BMW driver who parked his car in the middle of the road and urinated in public in Pune’s Shastrinagar area. Police have also arrested his friend Bhagyesh Oswal over similar charges.

Pune police registered a case on Saturday after a video went viral on social media, showing a youth alighting from posh BMW car, and urinating in public in Pune’s busy Shastrinagar area in Yerawada. The youth, Gaurav Ahuja, parked the car in the middle of the road and he urinated standing over the median on the road.

An eyewitness who saw the incident videographed it and questioned the youth over the matter. Ahuja’s friend, Bhagyesh Oswal, is seen in the video sitting inside the car with a liquor bottle. Ahuja allegedly even showed obscene signs to eyewitness when he questioned it, police said.

Pune police registered a case after the video went viral. Police immediately nabbed Oswal from his residence in Pune. However, Ahuja went underground after the video went viral. Police later arrested Ahuja from Karad tehsil in Satara. Before being arrested by cops, Ahuja released a video on social media apologising for the incident.
Police said case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act. Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Police Commissioner said, “Case has been registered under BNS sections 270, 281, 285 and relevant sections of Maharashtra Police Act and Motor Vehicle Act.” Police have booked the duo for public nuisance, rash and negligent driving, causing danger on public roads and other related offences. According to police, the accused will be produced in court on Sunday.
