Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Rahool Kanal said party cadres will welcome stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra in ‘Shiv Sena’ style when he arrives in Mumbai. Kamra, embroiled in a row over performance against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was granted bail by Tamil Nadu High Court recently.
Shiv Sena workers visited a Mumbai police station on Monday to fulfil bail conditions. Mumbai police had arrested 12 Shiv Sena workers including Shiv Sena Yuva Sena (Shinde faction) General Secretary Rahool Kanal for vandalising ‘The Habitat’ studio premises where Kamra performed.
Kanal told ANI, “We welcome the Court's verdict that gives Kunal Kamra relief, but it is only until April 7. He should come and face the law. No matter what protection he has there (in Tamil Nadu), whenever he comes to Mumbai, he will be welcomed in a good 'Shiv Sena style.'”
Kanal claimed it is not a threat and he was referring to Mumbai’s culture of 'Atithi Devo Bhava'. The Shiv Sena leader said Kamra should face the law and follow the procedure.

Kamra, who currently resides in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu was recently granted anticipatory bail till April 7 by Tamil Nadu High Court, in connection with case registered against him by Mumbai police for his alleged remarks against Shinde. During a recent performance in Mumbai, the stand-up comedian performed a parody of a popular song from the film "Dil Toh Pagal Hai," and allegedly referred to Shinde as a "gaddar" (traitor). However, Kamra did not name Shinde in the show. Kamra also performed jokes about recent political developments in Maharashtra. His performance angered the Maharashtra government and leaders including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the act.
The Mumbai Khar police had issued summons twice to Kamra and has asked him to appear for questioning. Cases registered against Kamra at Nashik Rural, Jalgaon and Nashik (Nandgaon) police stations have also been transferred to Khar police for probe.
