Watch slain Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar on battleground and in hiding during Gaza war

Unseen footage of slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was published on Friday, showing him walking on the battleground as well as in hiding during the war between Israel and the militant group in the Gaza Strip.

The footage released by Al Jazeera came to light four months after Sinwar was killed in Rafah. The Times of Israel established that The Hamas chief began staying in the Rafah home after IDF left the locality, pointing out that the Hebrew word for "North" was graffitied on the building wall.

Sinwar clad in a military vest and blanket is spotted carrying a walking stick in one of the videos. Another video show Sinwar in a polo shirt kneeling on the floor as he points at a location on a map.

Al Jazeera video also showed an order signed by Sinwar to begin the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

This comes amid Israel's repeated allegations that the Qatar-based Al Jazeera network has close ties with Hamas operatives, accusing six reporters of being members of militants outfits.

Israel has banned Al Jazeera from operating in the country over alleged links to Hamas while the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank has also suspended the network over its coverage of Mahmoud Abbas regime's action against militants.

In October 2024, IDF released a video of Sinwar passing through an underground tunnel on Khan Younis. Accompanied by his wife and children, the family was seen carrying bags of food, water, clothes and a plasma screen TV as they walked to their bunker. The bunker had a kitchen, toilets and showers, indicating Sinwar's plan to stay for a long period.

Sinwar was hiding for over a year until he was spotted by an IDF drone in Tel al-Sultan. The Hamas chief can be seen throwing an object at the drone before he was killed by a gunshot to his head.
