Tech-enabled healthcare platform GOQii has launched GOQii Vital 3.0, world's first wrist band based sensor to detect body temperature and blood pressure. According to the company, the device can identify early signs of COVID-19 infection.

“You can set up limits in the app. You'll get alerts if there are variations in your body temperature,” said Vishal Gondal, CEO of GOQii, at a webinar in Bengaluru.

''We have to learn to live with the virus till the vaccines are in place. Everyone is currently looking at solutions. Temperature checking is one of the key ways to manage and prevent COVID-19,'' he said.

Currently the device is manufactured in China. GOQii has plans to manufacture it in India.

Aarogya Sethu app and GOQii Vital 3.0 together can make treatment more holistic during COVID times, said Gondal. “People can connect this to the Aarogya Sethu app and share data during tele-consultation, so the doctor can look at the patient's parametres.''

The company said that GOQii’s brand ambassador Akshay Kumar has donated 1,000 GOQii Vital 3.0 bands to Mumbai Police who are at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.

Priced at Rs 3,999, Vital 3.0 comes with one year GOQii Play subscription and three months GOQii Health Coach subscription.

Talking at the webinar, Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog, said the Aarogya Sethu app has been able to achieve a remarkable feat. Kant is the architect of the app.

''When the COVID-19 crisis broke out in India, within 15 days we were able to develop the Aarogya Sethu, a powerful app that can do contact tracing. The app has been able to achieve a remarkable feat, which would otherwise have been next to impossible,'' said Kant.

''We have also launched Aarogya Sethu Mitr, a website that provides advice on telemedicine. Direct consultation with doctors is not feasible any more. Aarogya Sethu Mitr allows you to avail healthcare services from the safety and comfort of your home. It is a key initiative,'' he said, adding that similar kind of initiatives will be launched by Niti Aayog in education, manufacturing and agriculture.
