Now get your queries for ChatGPT answered over a phone call. OpenAI on Thursday announced its users in the United States will now be able to make calls to its AI chatbot from their landline phones. Additionally, users in other parts of the globe can chat with the AI chatbot on WhatsApp.
Making the announcement as part of its '12 days of OpenAI', the tech firm said it has opened new channels of communicating with ChatGPT to make it “as accessible as possible” for the most number of people. According to OpenAI, users can add 1-800-242-8478 to their contacts on WhatsApp and start chatting. Currently, the services available via WhatsApp will be limited, the tech firm said.

According to reports, users in the United States and Canada will be able to call the AI chatbot directly using the number 1-800-CHATGPT / 1-800-242-8478 and ask their queries. OpenAI says users will get 15 minutes of free usage a month for calls. There will daily limit for using ChatGPT via WhatsApp “We provide a notice as you approach the limit and inform you when the limit has been reached,” OpenAI said.
ChatGPT via WhatsApp currently supports only text messages and customised features are limited. Users will have to access ChatGPT through the web or app to provide voice commands and to use advanced features. Users will also be able to add ChatGPT to their groups strictly for one-on-one interactions. Apparently, WhatsApp already offers Meta AI with advanced capabilities for users.
