Indian badminton player Parupalli Kashyap on Friday stormed into the semifinals of the Korea Open Sper 500 tournament after defeating Denmark's Jan O Jorgensen.

Kashyap wrapped up the quarterfinal match in just 37 minutes, beating Jorgensen 24-22, 21-8. 

The Indian entered the match with a 2-4 record against Jorgensen. In the first set, both players fought hard, engaging in short rallies. Kashyap sealed the first game in 22 minutes. In the second game, however, Kashyap asserted his dominance though initially it seemed the duo would continue in the same vein as the first game. Unforced errors committed by Jorgensen worked in favour of the 2014 Commonwealth Games gold-medallist.

The 33-year old is the lone Indian left in fray in the BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament. He progressed to the quarterfinal after a 21-17 11-21 21-12 win over Malaysia's Daren Liew on Thursday in a contest that lasted 56 minutes.

World champion P.V. Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and B. Sai Praneeth crashed out of the tournament early on.

The Indian will face world number one Kento Momota of Japan in the semifinal on Saturday.
