Jonty Rhodes may have been in a nostalgic mood, donning the South African team jersey for a shoot at the Mehboob Studio in Mumbai, but then Harbhajan Singh came along, throwing shade on the Proteas, and burst that bubble.
The former South African cricketer posted the picture, in which he is seen wearing his national cricket team's colours, and said that it was “good to be back in the green and gold”.
“Feels good to be back in the green and gold, even if it is only for a shoot at the iconic #mehboobstudio in Mumbai #stillflying,” he captioned the image.
Harbhajan didn't waste the opportunity to take a dig at the South African side and its batting performance in the ongoing Test series, and asked Jonty to bat in the third Test in Ranchi to be played from October 19.
“Can u play the last test in Ranchi SA need need some batting Jonty (sic),” replied Harbhajan.
Jonty kept up the banter with a tongue in cheek reply, “They need much more than me!!!!”
South Africa have had a forgettable series so far in their tour of India. The hosts have clinched the three-match Test series 2-0 with a match to be played in Ranchi on Saturday. India won the first Test in Visakhapatnam by 203 runs, and the second Test in Pune by an innings and 137 runs. With the series win, India recorded their 11th consecutive Test series win at home.
India are also leading the ICC Test Championship points table with 200 points. The Men in Blue have been consistently on top since winning the two-match Test series in West Indies 2-0 during August-September.
