Trust the West Indians to bring some flamboyance and humour on the cricket field. While Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard are the 'usual suspects', Chris Gayle is the real boss. Or, shall we say, 'Universe Boss'?

Playing for Jozi Stars in the Mzansi Super League 2019 in South Africa, Gayle opened the bowling against Paarl Rocks, after his team put on a modest 129/3 batting first.

Off the final delivery of the over, the ball struck Rocks opener Henry David's pad as he was trying to work it on the leg side for a run. Gayle appealed for LBW but umpire said 'no'. What followed had the umpire in splits, as Gayle appeared to cry and plead jokingly for the batsman to be given out. The umpire could not control his laughter as he walked towards Gayle, patted him and handed him his cap to signal the end of the over.

The decision stayed, despite Gayle's amusing antics. The 40-year-old conceded just five runs in that over but did not bowl again in the match. Rocks notched up an easy win eventually, reaching the target with 3.5 overs to spare and four wickets in hand.

Gayle, who has been retained by Kings XI Punjab for the IPL 2020 season, has not fired yet for the Jozi Stars, scoring only 47 runs in five innings so far, with a top score of 18.
