Former Pakistan cricketer and coach Javed Miandad has come out with another episode of Miandad Stories, this time talking about pushing current Indian coach Ravi Shastri into a swimming pool when Pakistan was touring India.

In the video posted on his official YouTube channel, Miandad reminisced the time that the Indian and Pakistani teams played holi together at their hotel in Bengaluru (then Bangalore). He recalled how during the Bangalore Test, both teams were put up in the same hotel and they had nothing to do and spent time together in the evenings. On the day of holi, Miandad said, people at the hotel were playing holi, and everyone was putting colours on one another.

“We didn’t spare Indian cricketers either. We entered their rooms, and put colours on everyone and pushed each other into the pools. They had no problems with it.”

“We even entered Imran Khan’s room and played holi,” he added.

Miandad then spoke about how Ravi Shastri was hiding, but they picked him up from his room and threw him in the swimming pool. “We really enjoyed that time together,” the ex-Pakistan cricketer said.

He also called the tour one of Pakistan’s best. “The way we played, the way matches were played. There was a lot of love. We were invited everywhere. We celebrated holi together. People should participate in each other’s festival, there is nothing wrong in it. It was very enjoyable, and we had fun,” he concluded.

Miandad, who was part of 1992 World Cup-winning team, is one of the best cricketers to have played for Pakistan. He retired in 1996, and went on to coach the national team thrice.
