Royals Challengers Bangalore put in a spirited bowling effort to restrict the Rajasthan Royals to 154/6 in the first day match of the IPL 2020, in Abu Dhabi.
Spinners Yuzvendra Chahal (3/24) and Washington Sundar (0/20) shone with the ball for RCB, while Mahipal Lomror top-scored for RR with 47 off 39 balls.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals were soon reduced to 31/3, losing Jos Buttler (22), skipper Steve Smith (5) and in-form Sanju Samson (4) by the fifth over.
Lomror then staged an important recovery for the Royals. He first shared a 39-run stand with Robin Uthappa (17), and then put on 35 runs with Riyan Parag (16). After his dismissal in the 17th over, it was left to Rahul Tewatia (24 off 12 balls) and Jofra Archer (16 off 10) to help RR to a competitive score. The last five overs yielded 55 runs.
Rajasthan made one change, with Lomror coming in for Ankit Rajpoot, while RCB fielded an unchanged side from their previous match.
