Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain terminated its contract with Jese Rodriguez six months early in the wake of a sex scandal involving his partner’s friend. The Spanish forward was accused of cheating on his partner Aurah Ruiz with model Rocio Amar, who is also Ruiz’s friend.
The 27-year-old was also lambasted for attending a party in Gran Canaria last month, violating social distancing rules, and was seen not wearing a face mask.
“Paris Saint-Germain and Jese have agreed to terminate the player’s contract, which expires on June 30, 2021,” PSG said in a statement.
“Aged 27, the native of Las Palmas (Canary Islands) arrived in Paris during the summer of 2016. In the Red and Blue jersey, Jese will have played 18 games and scored 2 goals, in all competitions, winning 1 Championship of France (2020), 1 Coupe de la Ligue (2017) and 1 Champions Trophy (2017).
“Paris Saint-Germain wish Jese the best in the rest of his professional career,” the statement read.
The incident came to light when Amar posted audio clips on Instagram, in which she is heard calling Rodriguez’s wife “crazy” and “boring”. She also spoke about her previous “sexual encounters” with the footballer at a nightclub in Madrid.
In the wake of the sex scandal, it was also reported that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was tired of the striker’s antics off the field damaging the image of the club.
Rodriguez had split with Ruiz in 2018, but reconciled following a legal battle he was accused of neglecting their child. However, the couple have had a on-again off-again relationship since.
