Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is looking at the ‘exit sign’ as the Spaniard’s current contract with the club expires at the end of the season, and there is no sight of a new deal. Contract extension talks between the player and the club have stalled as they are yet to agree on fresh terms.
Speculations are rife that the captain will leave Madrid next summer. As per reports, he has told club president Florentino Perez that he would “entertain offers”.
El Chiringuito, the Spanish football talk show, has reported that Madrid have offered Ramos two options to extend his contract—One would extend his contract by a year, keeping his current salary; the other would be a two-year contract with a 10 per cent decrease in salary.
ESPN, meanwhile, reported that the defender is “offended” that Madrid aren’t making enough of an effort to renew his contract.
The 34-year-old is free to negotiate any contract with any club as of January 1 since the transfer window opened.
There are reports that Paris Saint-Germain are likely to sign him on if he decides to leave Real Madrid. PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino said Ramos would find “one of the biggest clubs in the world” if he were to move to Paris. The club has reportedly offered Ramos a three-year deal worth 15 million euros a season.
However, the reports are yet to be confirmed and there are still chances that a deal between Real Madrid and Ramos will be finalised soon.
