Cricketer Manoj Tiwary on Wednesday has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of the West Bengal Assembly polls, describing it as his “new journey”. He joined the party during Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s rally in Hooghly district.
Earlier in the day, Tiwary had tweeted that a new journey will begin today. He also linked his political profile on Instagram in the tweet. The bio on the Instagram page reads, “Politician, AITMC, Proud Indian, Joy Bangla!”
“A new journey begins from today. Need all your love & support. From now onwards this will be my political profile on Instagram,” Tiwary tweeted.
Tiwary has played for the national cricket team in the ODI and T20I formats, and currently represents Bengal in domestic cricket. In the Indian Premier League, the cricketer has played for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, and Rising Pune Supergiants.
The assembly polls in West Bengal are slated for April.
