The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Friday announced the India squad for the upcoming ODI series against England, with Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Krunal Pandya earning a call-up.
Jasprit Bumrah, who recently got married to TV presenter Sanjana Ganesan and was excluded from the T20I series, has not been named in the ODI squad.
The three-match series begins on March 23 and all matches will be held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
Apart from Suryakumar and Pandya, pacers Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj have also been named in the squad for the ODI series. Suryakumar scored a gritty 57 off 31 balls―his maiden fifty for India―in the fourth T20I against England on Thursday.
While it is believed that Pandya and Prasidh were included because of their good performance in the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal have been ignored. Shaw and Padikkal notched up 827 and 737 runs, respectively, scoring four centuries each, in the tournament.
