Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has impressed selectors of the Mumbai Ranji team and has been named in the squad for the team’s first two Ranji Trophy matches.
The 22-year-old fast bowling all-rounder made it to the 20-member squad picked by the Salil Ankola-led Mumbai Cricket Association selection committee, who said he has been bowling well after recovering from an injury.
“Arjun (Tendulkar) has been bowling well. Unfortunately, he was injured in between but he did well in whatever games he played thereafter,” Ankola told The Indian Express.
“We have picked a team looking at the future of Mumbai cricket. Unfortunately, Tushar Deshpande, our seamer, is injured but it’s a promising team. It’s a mixed team where we have picked players from under-19 and also who have been part of the Mumbai team for a few years.”

Arjun has played two T20 matches for the Mumbai side and will be looking to make his debut in the country’s most successful Ranji side.
Though he was named in the team last year too, the tournament did not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be held at neutral venues this year.
Fellow youngster Prithvi Shaw will lead the Mumbai side that will play their two matches against Maharashtra and Delhi from January 13 in Kolkata.
