Ravindra Jadeja scored the second century of his Test career as India continue to dominate the first Test against Sri Lanka. By lunch on day 2, India were 468 for the loss of seven wickets.

Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin put on a stroke-filled century partnership to further India's grip on the game after the top batsmen turned in indifferent performances on the first day.

Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant scored 58 and 96, the latter missing out on a well-deserved century.

But India showed the batting depth at its disposal as Jadeja and Ashwin took the Lankan bowlers to the cleaners with smart strokes and controlled play.

Ashwin was then dismissed on 61 by a bouncer from Suranga Lakmal that snicked his bat and landed in Dickwella's gloves.

Jayant Yadav, who already has a century and a 50 to his name in the six Tests he has played, is now in the middle with Jadeja.

According to Cricinfo, India have the best average partnership of any team at home for the seventh wicket or lower.

A day after the death of legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne, the Indian and Sri Lankan players paid tribute to him with a moment's silence before the match and wore black armbands.

Brief scores: India 468/7 at lunch on day 2 (Jadeja 102*, Lakmal 2 for 86)
