Virat Kohli registered his 72nd international century by smashing a 113 off 91 against Bangladesh in the third ODI at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday. With this, Kohli overtook Australia's Ricky Ponting record (71) with the second-most hundreds across formats.

The first place is occupied by the iconic Sachin Tendulkar (100).

Kohli's 44th ODI century was special as it came after a gap of more than three years. Kohli hit 11 fours and two sixes.

Virat Kohli along with opener Ishan Kishan, who smashed the fastest double century in the history of ODI cricket, set a score of 409 for eight against Bangladesh.

Kohli also completed 1000 ODI runs in Bangladesh becoming the second player to do so after Australia's Shane Watson.
