Kohli, Gambhir face-off after RCB-LSG match, fined 100 percent match fees

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir has been fined for breaching the 2023 IPL Code of Conduct during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday.

After the match, though both Kohli and Gambhir shook hands it got bitter later on when LSG opener Kyle Mayers walked up to Kohli and talked. LSG mentor Gambhir seemed to be unhappy with the it. The later visuals revealed both Kolhi and Gambhir engaging in heated arguments. Other players and LSG skipper K.L. Rahul came into the scene and separated the duo.

Amit Mishra, RCB captain Faf du Plessis and LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya also joined to calm the situation.

“Lucknow Super Giants' Mentor Gautam Gambhir...Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bhihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow,” IPL said in its release.

The duo was admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

Also, Lucknow Super Giants' bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

RCB had bowled out LSG for 108 after scoring 126/9. RCB had won by 18 runs. Due to injury, Rahul's attempt to score in the last over was not fruitful.

Last time when both LSG and RCB clashed in Bengaluru in an IPL 2023 game, Gambhir had 'shushed' the crowd with the gesture.
