Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah returned home from the Asia Cup after his wife Sanjana Ganesan gave birth to the couple's baby, a boy. Bumrah had left ahead of India's Group A match against Nepal, due to 'personal reasons'. The couple named their son Angad.
Bumrah shared the news on Instagram along with a picture of all three of them holding hands. "Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can't wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it," Bumrah wrote on Instagram.
Sanjana, a television broadcaster and Bumrah tied the knot in March 2021. The couple had kept their relationship under wraps for a very long time. The couple, who are known to stay away from the limelight, kept their wedding clandestine too. The duo have steadily stayed away from the public eye. Sanjana too, hasn't been seen in her role as a broadcaster since she interviewed Bumrah during India's tour of England in 2022.
He will be joining the team ahead of the Super 4 stage. Bumrah was ruled out of the 2022 T20 World Cup due to a back injury. Post that he donned the Indian blue during the India tour of Ireland in August this year.
“Jasprit is someone who we have missed a lot, over the last two years he has not played too much games,” head coach Rahul Dravid had said. Bumrah, who missed a few series including IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship final due to his injury, has been under the scanner.
