Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra has a title to defend as he takes the field at the prestigious Diamond League finals in USA's Eugene on Saturday. If the Indian javelin ace manages to do so, he will become only the third man to defend the Diamond League (DL)overall title, reports said. 

25-year-old Neeraj Chopra, who has a personal best of 89.94m, won two individual DL meetings in Doha on May 5 and Lausanne on June 30 before clinching a historic gold in the World Championships. He had become only the third javelin thrower in history to hold both the Olympic and World Championships crowns after winning the world title in Budapest with a throw of 88.17m.

At Eugene, Neeraj Chopra is up against familiar opponents Oliver Helander (Finland), Andrian Mardare (Moldova), Anderson Peters (Grenada), Curtis Thompson (United States), Jakub Vadlejch (Czech Republic).

The finals of the league are taking place in Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Viewers in India can catch the javelin event on September 17, Sunday, at 12:50 am.
