Indian quartet of Anas Muhammed Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi and Rajesh Ramesh sealed the gold for India in the men's 4x400m relay with a timing of 3:01.58 at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, there was more good news for Anas as news broke that India's silver medal in the 2018 Jakarta edition's mixed relay was upgraded to gold. The development came after a member of the gold-medal-winning Behrain team was disqualified for doping, Malayala Manorama said in a report.
The Indian team comprising Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Poovamma Machettira, Hima Das and Rajiv Arokia clocked 3:15.71 to finish second while the Bahrain team had clocked 3:11.89.
The disqualification meant Kerala athlete R Anu, who had finished fourth in women's 400 m hurdles, would receive the bronze medal, the Malayala Manorama report said. The athlete found guilty of doping had won the gold in Anu's event, the report said.
