The Indian Super League (ISL) match between Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin FC at Kochi witnessed a dramatic start on Wednesday. The visitors managed to silence the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by scoring in the opening minute of the game.
Rahim Ali handed Chennaiyin FC the lead by scoring the fastest goal of the season from a set piece.
However, there was more drama as the referee awarded a penalty to either side in a span of two minutes! It was Kerala Blasters who got the first spot-kick in the 11th minute after forward Kwame Peprah was brought down inside the box by Ajit Kumar.
KBFC's star forward Dimitrios Dimantakos stepped up and blazed a grounder past CFC custodian D Majumdar to bring parity to the match.
However, the relief lasted only a couple of minutes as a similar foul at the other end forced the referee to blow the whistle -- allowing Jordan Murray to score one past Sachin Suresh in the 13th minute. The former KBFC man refused to celebrate big and folded his hands up in a show of respect for the Kochi crowd.
After 45 minutes and added time, the Kerala Blasters vs Chennaiyin FC match ended up the ISL game of the season that witnessed the most goals scored in first-half. At the break, the visitors led 3-2.
