Manchester City is expected to line up against Luton City sans their starman Erling Haaland, the Premier League website said citing reports. An unspecified injury has ruled out the Manchester City striker from Sunday's away game, the article said.

If the Norwegian striker skips Sunday's clash, it will be his first league absence this season. Haaland, the most prolific goal-poacher in the Premier League with 14 goals, has failed to score in the last two outings.

Erling Haaland injury: What we know so far

According to Reuters, manager Pep Guardiola called a "stress reaction" in his foot for the reason for Haaland's absence.  another potential blow amid the team's current crisis.

"A bone stress reaction in his feet," Guardiola told Sky Sports ahead of Sunday's kick-off when asked why Haaland was not in the squad.

"After the last game against Aston Villa he was like this and so he cannot play. I don't know (how severe the injury is). Week by week, day by day, we'll see what happens," Guardiola said.

The 23-year-old has been struggling with a foot injury, withdrawing from the Norway squad during the recent international break to return to Manchester for treatment. A stress reaction, which includes swelling and bruising in the bone, can progress to a more serious stress fracture.
