Riyan Parag remained unbeaten on 84 from 45 deliveries to carry Rajasthan Royals to 185/5 against Delhi Capitals on Thursday. Parag went all the way to make the highest score of his T20 career after Rajasthan Royals suffered an early collapse at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.
Riyan Parag, who was criticised over the years for his inconsistency, seems to have finally found his rhythm. Today's knock comes just four days after having made 29-ball 43 against LSG in Rajasthan's campaign opener.
Parag punished the experienced Anrich Nortje for 25 runs in the final over of the game. The last ball of the innings, which yielded a single was the only one to not cross the boundary line. The merciless beating included three boundaries and a couple of sixes.
Overall, the Assam captain's innings included seven fours and six maximums.
Delhi Capitals' new-ball attack gave Rishbah Pant the ideal start by taking out the dangerous Yashasvi Jaiswal (5 off 7), Jos Buttler (11 off 16) and captain Sanju Samson (15 off 14) in quick succession. However, things changed after Parag and Ravi Ashwin (29 off 19) joined forces in the middle. Parag shared 54 and 52 runs respectively with Ravichandran Ashwin (29) and Dhruv Jurel (20) after RR made a shaky start.
