India vs South Africa ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final LIVE: Virat Kohli and Shivam Dube were at the crease as India approached the final five overs of their innings. Opting to bat first at Barbados, the Men In Blue lost three wickets including captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav although Kohli kept the scoreboard ticking at the other end.

The departure of Axar Patel after a brilliant knock of 47 from 31 balls brought Dube, another left-hander, in to the middle. Here is how India scored in the final five overs of its innings in the final.

Over 16: Tabraiz Shamsi began strongly before Shivam Dube managed to find a boundary in the penultimate ball of the over. He gave away eight runs and kept Kohli away from the strike.

Over 17: Anrich Nortje started strongly as Dube and Kohli played a single each in the first two balls. Kohli's flick was a half-chance but QDK couldn't capitalize. In the fourth ball of the over, Kohli failed to score despite making contact. He pulled the next ball for a single to bring up his fifty from 48 balls. It was his first of the tournament. Dube scored a boundary of the last ball to manage another eight-run over.

Over 18: Kagiso Rabada's first ball was disptached for a straight six by Kohli. The seamer's yorker-length delivery was then converted to a double before pulling the next for a four. The next bal was knocked away for a single on the leg side. Finally, the over ended up being one sans a dot ball as India managed 16 runs of it and reached the 150-mark.

Over 19: Marco Jansen started off with a no-ball, handing India a free hit. However, Kohli failed to connect. He flicked the next all for a boundary on the leg side, before a misfield handed him two more in the ball that followed. Jansen, who had a brief chat with his skipper was smashed for a hug six by Kohli  who moved to 76 off 58 balls. The next ball was a slower delivery, inviting Kohli to go big. The Indian opner took the bait and perished after handing Kagiso Rabada an easy catch at long on. Hardik Pandya, the new batter, edged a short-pitched ball that ran away for four beating the chasing wicketkeeper. 17 runs leaked by the tall seamer despite getting Kohli's wicket. Another good over for India.

Over 20: Nortje was asked to bowl the final over the innings. Having bowled brilliantly so far, he starts off with a wide befire being swung away by Dube for a single. Pandya gets another run off the next ball before a powerful shot down the ground breaches the boundary rope. He was caught by David Miller near the boundary the next ball while trying to score a maximum over long off. He is gone after a useful 27 off 16. Ravindra Jadeja walks in with two balls to go. His gets a couple to retain strike. The final ball of the game was a wicket as Jadeja was caught by Keshav Maharaj who came running from the covers.
