It was not an ideal opening day for India as its shooters, except Manu Bhaker, failed to advance from the qualification round. There was some joy from the badminton court as the day progressed. Star boy Lakshya Sen beat Kevin Cordon of Guatemala in straight sets before Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty got the better of French duo Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar in the men's doubles.
More Indian shooters and shuttlers will be in action on Sunday, the second day of the Paris Games. Also contesting will the swimmers, rowers and table tennis stars.
