Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, industrialist Anand Mahindra and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar were among thousands of Indians who shared their happiness over shooter Manu Bhaker's historic bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.

After 22-year-old Haryana native Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman shooter to win a medal at the Olympics on Sunday evening, microblogging website X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with notes of appreciation for her. Bhaker's bronze was also India's first the 2024 edition of the Summer Games.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar on Facebook congratulated Bhaker for showing "immense strength & determination" to bounce back after suffering a heartbreak at the Tokyo Games. 

"Off the mark in the medal tally and on the mark with the shooting! Congratulations, Manu Bhaker, on bagging India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics. After overcoming the heartbreak in Tokyo, you have shown immense strength & determination to win a bronze at #Paris2024, and made India proud," Sachin Tendulkar's post read.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Manu Bhaker's incredible achievement historic. He said on X, "A historic medal! Well done,  @realmanubhaker , for winning India’s FIRST medal at #ParisOlympics2024! Congrats for the Bronze. This success is even more special as she becomes the 1st woman to win a medal in shooting for India. An incredible achievement!"

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also applauded the shooter on X. "Kudos to @realmanubhaker on winning the first medal in the #ParisOlympics2024, by bringing home the bronze. You have sent a wave of euphoria across the nation with your stellar performance. The nation swells in pride at your achievement.," his post read.

"A proud moment, @realmanubhaker  wins Bharat's first medal, a BRONZE in Women’s 10m Air Pistol at #ParisOlympic2024!  Congratulations Manu, you have displayed your skill & dedication, you have become 1st woman shooter to win an Olympic medal for Bharat! ," the Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Mansukh Mandaviya jotted on X.

"The medal is Bronze… But that look is Pure GOLD. Steely-eyed determination that made her the first Indian Woman to win a shooting medal in the Olympics. Don’t ever try to get in her way," industrialist Anand Mahindra said on X.

Actor Suniel Shetty highlighted how Bhaker managed the unique feat at such a young age. "First Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal…and she is just 22! @realmanubhaker  , you’ve made India proud. India’s first medal, the first of many more…." he wrote.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also congratulated the Haryana athlete. "Proud to see India clinch its first medal in the Paris #OlympicGames 2024!Congratulations to 

@realmanubhaker for the Bronze - first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal.Our daughters have given us a wonderful start. Many more to come," he wrote on X.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was more elaborate while prasing the medallist. His words, "India has begun its #Olympics run with a well-deserved medal! Our congratulations to Manu Bhaker (@realmanubhaker) on clinching the bronze medal🥉for India in the women's 10m pistol event at the #Paris2024 Your achievement is a testament to your exceptional skill and perseverance. We are extremely proud of you! May this momentous occasion inspire countless young athletes to strive for excellence."
