Paris Olympics 2024: Manu Bhaker could win a third Olympic medal on Saturday when she competes in the final of the Women's 25m Pistol event. The medal event will begin at 1:00 pm IST. If Manu Bhaker manages a podium finish once again, she will become the only Indian athlete to win three medals at the same edition of an Olympics. The 22-year-old shooter qualified for the finals as the second-best performer among all participants, further boosting the hope of winning a silver, if not gold.
Other Indian athletes in action tomorrow include veteran archer Deepika Kumari in the women's individual event, boxer Nishant Dev and sailor Vishnu Saravanan.
Earlier today, the Indian mixed archery team of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara came agonisingly close to ending India's 36-year wait for an Olympic medal in archery but fell short to finish fourth at the Games. The team had already created history by entering the semifinals of the Summer Games for the first time.
But the duo lost 37-38 35-37 38-34 35-37 to the American combine of world no.1 Casey Kaufhold and three-time Olympic-medallist Brady Ellison to join the fourth-finishers' club at the Olympics. It was nonetheless the best-ever performance by an Indian team in the quadrennial showpiece.
