Manchester United will sign Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich. The former Juventus centre-back will sign a five-year deal with Manchester United for a €45 million + add-ons deal, noted football correspondent David Ornstein said on X.

Matthijs de Ligt's Bayern teammate and Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui will also join Old Trafford for a € 15+%5 million deal if West Ham agrees to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka for 15 million pounds, he added.

The versatile Mazraoui, who generally operates on the right-back, can also play on the left flank. English right-back Wan-Bissaka, meanwhile, is a solid presence in defence but is not effective going forward.

The medicals for the new arrival(s) are slated for Sunday or Monday, Ornstein claimed.

However, another noted football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the Moroccan's arrival to the theatre of dreams. "Green light as planned after Wan-Bissaka’s move to West Ham. Mazraoui will cost €20m add-ons included, payment terms favorable as Man United wanted. Mazraoui signs five year deal + one more year, negotiated by Rafaela Pimenta," he said on X.

Earlier, reports had claimed that Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, Mazraoui and Matthijs were on the radar of the former Premier League champions.

Manchester United had signed promising French talent Leny Yoro in July, who was linked to a move to Real Madrid. However, Yoro is now out injured along with Luke Shaw.

Erik Ten Hag's side is heading to the FA Community Shield final against bitter-rivals Manchester City with a depleted backline. If true, the arrival of the Bayern duo could be a morale boost for the Red Devils ahead of Saturday's game.
