‘Rishta pakka?’: Netizens joke as videos show Manu Bhaker, her mother talking to Neeraj Chopra

Shooter Manu Bhaker has been the poster girl for India at the Paris Olympics 2024, winning two medals – a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol and another bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol. She, thus, became the first athlete to win multiple medals at the same Olympics for independent India.

In the pre-independence era, Norman Pritchard, a British-Indian, won two medals at the 1900 Summer Games – silver medals in men’s 200m sprint and 200m hurdles.

Another crowd favourite was Neeraj Chopra, who won a historic gold in the javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Despite struggling with a groin injury, Chopra managed to win the silver at the Paris Olympics.

However, netizens have found joy in a moment captured on camera, away from the track and shooting ranges! In a video doing the rounds on social media, Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra are seen talking to each other. Her mother is also seen urging her to take a picture with Chopra, which the shooting star shyly turns down.

In another video, Bhaker’s mother is seen holding Chopra’s hands and talking animatedly.

The videos have set the internet buzzing, with netizens joking that Manu Bhaker’s mother has finally found a match for her daughter! Many have expressed the wish to see two of India’s brightest athletes in a relationship.
