Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Kylian Mbappe's left-thigh injury will rule him out of Saturday's La Liga match at Rayo Vallecano. However, the French superstar will be travelling to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup final on December 18.

Real Madrid's star attacker suffered a left-thigh injury earlier this week during a UEFA Champions League game. Ancelotti told the press that they are hopeful that Mbappe will be match-ready in Qatar. However, the Los Blancos will be careful not to risk his fitness, the Italian gaffer added.

Kylian Mbappe suffered the injury and was taken off not long after netting his 50th Champions League goal in Real Madrid's 3-2 win at Atalanta on Tuesday. The victory against the Serie A side gave the giants a much-needed boost in the European competition after a slow start.

Ancelotti observed that Mbappe's form improved in recent weeks and the small injury setback is unlikely to affect the good run the former PSG star is enjoying. The French captain's decision to remain with Madrid during the international breaks was vital for his return to form, Ancelotti felt.

What Carlo Ancelotti said about Kylian Mbappe's injury

"He will travel because we think he can recover from the injury... We will see if he can play without taking any risks," Ancelotti was quoted as saying by ESPN.

"He has improved. Thankfully it's a small period he will be out for. I don't think he will lose what he has been able to generate in the past few games," the manager added.

Carlo Ancelotti on Real Madrid squad availability

Mbappe's international teammate Eduardo Camavinga, who was sidelined due to a hamstring issue, is now available for selection, the Real Madrid gaffer said. The versatile David Alaba, meanwhile, is still on the road to recovery and may need more time, he reportedly said.

Real Madrid, who are trailing archrivals Barcelona in La Liga with a game in hand, will take on either Pachuca or Al Ahly in the Intercontinental Cup final.
