Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Kobbie Mainoo were three players that he was not allowed to sell at any cost, a report claimed the Manchester United hierarchy as telling Ruben Amorim when he took over as the club manager. However, both Garnacho and Mainoo have lost the privilege and may soon enter United's "For Sale" list, recent developments suggest.

While Manchester United's Premier League rivals Chelsea are after Mainoo's signature, fresh stories allege that Argentine prodigy Garnacho is unhappy under the new gaffer and may open conversations with possible bidders.

Alejandro Garnacho, who is highly rated by Amorim and the United board, is likely to open talks with La Liga's Atletico Madrid, his boyhood club. Argentine Garnacho was born in the Spanish capital and spent five years with Atleti before arriving in the United youth system in England. Diego Simeone could have handed the former Getafe youngster his debut had he not agreed on a  £420,000 switch to Manchester, the report said.

The 20-year-old, who idolises Cristiano Ronaldo, had a stellar beginning when he broke into the main team under Erik Ten Hag but has struggled to find a place in the starting eleven under Amorim.

As said before, Amorim likes Garnacho as an attacking player but is forced to use Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot because of higher work rate they offer in both attack and defense. Garnacho has been decreased to a substitute for most games, resulting in frustration, reports claimed.

If Atletico Madrid comes knocking, Manchester United may consider selling Garnacho as it would help the former Premier League champions greatly from the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) standpoint as he counts as a homegrown player, TBR claimed in a report.  However, Simeone remains an admirer of Garnacho's capabilities and his side is more than happy to bring back the young winger and is closely watching the situation, the report added.

Garnacho signed a contract in April 2023 that would keep him at Old Trafford till 2028. However, if his patience has run out, the club would no longer pressurise him to stay, the report said.

Academy graduates Scott McTominay and Mason Greenwood were among the players to have left Old Trafford recently. Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are also likely to leave the club.
