MSN reunion: Neymar likely to join Messi, Suarez at Inter Miami?

Neymar's contract with Al-Hilal ends in June 2025. He has played only seven times so far for the Saudi Arabian club, with injuries sidelining him for the majority of the tenure

It would be a dream come true for 'MSN' fans. The fearsome attacking trio of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who led Barcelona to a historic treble in the 2014-15 season, may take the field together yet again—in Inter Miami's colours, though—if things fall into place.

The Brazilian forward hinted at a reunion with his former Barca teammates, in an interaction with CNN. "Obviously, playing again with Messi and Suarez would be incredible. They are my friends, we still speak to each other," said Neymar, who is with Al-Hilal now.

His contract with the Saudi Arabian club ends in June this year, and the Brazilian talisman did not rule out a move to Major League Soccer. "It would be interesting to revive this trio. I am happy at Al-Hilal, I am happy in Saudi Arabia, but who knows. Football is full of surprises."

Neymar moved to Paris St Germain in 2017, in a record-breaking 222 million euros ($230.39 million) move, and spent six seasons there. Though he scored 118 goals for PSG, he failed to win the Champions League with the French club.

Neymar did play with Messi again with PSG for a couple of seasons, before joining the Saudi Pro League, in a (reported) 90 million-euro move to Al-Hilal in 2023. But, he played only seven times for the club, as injuries sidelined him for long periods.

"When the news came out that I was leaving Paris St Germain, the transfer window was closed in the United States, so I didn't have this option (of moving to Miami in 2023)," the 32-year-old said.

Messi moved to Inter Miami in 2023, while Suarez joined last season. Former Barca stars Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, too, are with the club now.

2026 World Cup will be Neymar's last

Neymar, who is Brazil's all-time top scorer with 79 goals, added that the World Cup in 2026 would be his last. "I will try, I want to be there. I will do everything I can to be part of the national team. I know this will be my last World Cup, my last shot, my last chance and I will do everything I can to play in it."

Neymar has not played since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee in a qualifier in October 2023.

Brazil are currently fifth in the South American qualifiers standings, with six rounds to go. The top six qualify automatically.
