Brazil icon Roberto Carlos, who played for ISL side Delhi Dynamos, has broken his silence on the disquieting rumours concerning his personal life. The 2002 World Cup winner made a statement after some reports claimed that the 51-year-old was sleeping at the training facility of his former club Real Madrid after his marriage with Mariana Luccon ended. The former left-back used his good relationship with the Los Blancos officials to make the Valdebebas facility his home, reports had claimed.
Roberto Carlos took on X to call out the "false and damaging stories circulating" on the internet. The four-time La Liga winner said he is residing at a private accommodation "supported by members of my family" and will move legally against the baseless allegations.
"In recent days, I have become aware of false and damaging stories circulating about me and my family. While I value privacy, I feel compelled to address the baseless rumours about my living situation. These fabricated stories are entirely false and seem designated to generate clicks.

"I remain at a private residence, supported by members of my family. My legal team is reviewing these claims and will take appropriate action. I ask for privacy regarding personal matters and thank those who continue to support me during this time," Roberto Carlos said on X.
Roberto Carlos, who also managed Delhi Dynamos in the ISL, has two daughters with Mariana Luccon whom he married in 2009. Reports of him staying at the Madrid facility had raised eyebrows as the former centre-back is said to have resources worth £133 million ($166m). A decade ago, Carlos had claimed that he fathered 11 children from 7 different partners.
