Yograj Singh, father of former Indian cricket icon Yuvraj Singh, claimed that he wanted to shoot World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev. He reached the Haryana great's house with a gun, Yograj Singh claimed while talking with a YouTube channel.

Yograj Singh played one Test and six ODIs for India during the tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1980-81. While reportedly engaging 'Unfiltered by Samdheesh', Singh said that when the then captain Kapil Dev dropped him from the Indian team, he wanted to shoot him in the forehead. "When Kapil Dev became the captain of North Zone and India, he dropped me without any reason. My wife (Yuvraj Singh's mother Shabnam Singh) wanted me to question Kapil and I told her that I would teach this man a lesson," JanSatta quoted the 66-year-old Yograj as saying.

However, Yograj didn't hurt Kapil Dev because he was in his mother's company. "I took out my pistol, I went to Kapil's house in Sector 9. He came out with his mother. I abused him a dozen times. I told him that because of you I have lost a friend and you will have to pay the price for what you have done. I said, 'I want to shoot you in the head, but I'm not doing that because you have a very pious mother standing here'", the report added him as saying.

According to Prabhat Khabar, Yograj Singh said that it was at this time that he decided that he would no longer play cricket, but his son Yuvraj would play. Yograj Singh also made a scathing remark about the late Bishan Singh Bedi, saying, "These people, including Bishan Singh Bedi, conspired against me. I have never forgiven Bishan Singh Bedi."
