The world of football is no stranger to drama and controversy, and the latest chapter in the Neymar-Kylian Mbappe saga has fans and the internet buzzing. Recently, on a podcast hosted by Romario, Neymar claimed that Mbappe felt jealous when Lionel Messi joined PSG in 2021. Mbappé and Neymar played at PSG from 2017 to 2023.

The controversy ignited with Neymar’s statement: “We had some good years of partnership, but after Messi came, he was a little jealous. He didn’t want to share me with anyone. Then there were some fights and changes in his behaviour,” Neymar said.

“I used to call him golden boy,” Neymar said. “I always played with him; I said he was going to be one of the best. I always helped him, talked to him, he came to my place, and we had dinner together.”

Neymar said that the team’s struggles in Europe stemmed from ego issues within the squad. "Ego can be beneficial, but one must understand that they don’t play alone. If nobody runs and supports each other, it's impossible to win anything," Neymar added.

Responding to Neymar’s comments, Mbappe, in an interview with TNT Sports Brazil, said, “The truth is, I have nothing to say. I am very focused on what I am doing now here in Madrid. I have a lot of respect for Neymar.”

"I could talk about Neymar many times, but I want to focus on the positives of a unique footballer in the history of the game and all the moments we shared in Paris.”

"Now I’m in Madrid, and I want to enjoy my time here.”

"All the best to Neymar and to all his family and friends,” Mbappé said.

Neymar and Mbappe both joined PSG in 2017, from Barcelona and Monaco respectively. Despite the dynamic trio of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe, PSG never won the Champions League.
