The UK government will hold a third vote on Prime Minister Theresa May's divorce deal in the hopes to avoid a no-deal Brexit on Friday.

The new date for Britain's departure from the EU is set on April 12. However, May is yet to get parliamentary nod on her Brexit deal. Following her failure to get a majority in parliament, May has now promised to resign as prime minister if lawmakers would approve her deal.

The EU has offered May 22 as the outer limit for Brexit if May's deal is approved by the parliament this week. If she fails again, the UK must come up with alternatives by April 12 or risk crashing out of the EU without a deal.

The European Union, meanwhile, has said that Britain is more likely than ever to leave the bloc without a deal as the UK parliament has failed on previous occasions to approve May's deal. The prime minister still lacks crucial numbers to have her deal voted through parliament.

The parliament had wrested control of the Brexit process for a day to find a last-minute fix, but the attempt ended in futility. On Monday, another vote on the more popular opinion out of the eight drawn up by the MPs would be held.

Britain would be forced to participate in the European Parliament elections in May if it seeks a much longer extension to leave the bloc.
