Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is writing an “intimate and heartfelt memoir”, publisher Random House said. Prince Harry said the book, which will be released towards the end of next year, will offer an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of his life.

“I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become,” the Duke of Sussex, 36, told AP. “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first-hand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

The publisher has said that Prince Harry will donate the money earned from the book towards charity.

“Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him,” Random House announced.

The book will cover everything—right from his childhood to his mother Diana’s death to the time he was in the military and posted in Afghanistan to why he left the Royal Family.

The Prince’s relationship with his father Prince Charles has been estranged, ever since the Duke of Sussex chose to step down as a royal. Talking of his relationship with the Prince of Wales he said, “There is a lot to work through there.” Referring to the car accident that took Diana’s life, he said, “I feel really let down. He’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like. And Archie is his grandson. I will always love him, but there is a lot of hurt that has happened”.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry said that he felt trapped by royal life and that after he stepped down as a royal, his family cut off him financially and took away his security.

Harry has admitted that he attempted to self-medicate after Diana’s death. “I was willing to drink. I was willing to take drugs. I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling,” he told in the interview with Oprah Winfrey.
