A 6.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded in southwestern Iran on Sunday, with aftershocks felt across the Middle East in countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre recorded the 6.5 magnitude quake 68km northwest of Bandar Abbas. Videos from the region show dust rising from mountains and trucks shaking.
Iran’s state-run news agency, said there was no immediate report yet on possible damages of casualties as a result of the quake. The Tehran Times said relief forces have been dispatched to the area.
Numerous reports of tremors came from Dubai, as well as some locations in the eastern regions of Saudi Arabia. Several buildings were evacuated of residents in Dubai. The UAE Meteorological Centers said the earthquake had had no negative effects on the country so far.
