Rudy Giuliani will comply with a subpoena to testify in the January 6 hearing, bipartisan members of the investigative committee looking into Donald Trump's efforts to overturn results of the 2020 elections said. Elaine Luria, a Virginia Democratic congresswoman and member of the select committee told MSNBC, “He has been in contact with the committee.” “He had an appearance that has been rescheduled but he remains under subpoena and we expect him to cooperate fully with the investigation.”

The New York Times had reported that Giuliani had been in talks with members of the select committee to give testimony. Giuliani is one of the long-standing Trump insiders who has for the longest time refused to cooperate with the committee investigating Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, which resulted in an insurrection at Capitol Hill resulting in the death of 5 people.

Giuliani was reportedly at the centre of a plan to order the Department of Homeland Security to seize voting machines in contested states. Giuliani worked with Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, and a small team to file several lawsuits trying to assemble a slate of fake electors-- the attempts failed. The former New York City mayor is said to be still close to former president Trump. While talking at a rally in front of the White House ahead of the insurrection, Giuliani had said, "Let's have trial by combat." "I'm willing to stake my reputation, the President is willing to stake his reputation, on the fact that we're going to find criminality there,” 'What did he mean by trial by combat, is one of the questions he is likely to face. Other questions include his alleged involvement in a plan to seize voting machines; the committee is also likely to ask him whether he was in contact with Trump on the day of the insurrection.
